A perfect property begs for a perfect home, and a tear-down is often the simplest move toward achieving what works best for your family. When our homeowners acquired this stunning parcel, perched high on a bluff along Lake Michigan, the existing structure upon it was dark, dated and in need of reconfiguring to function comfortably as a summer home for the couple, their grown children, and ever-increasing ranks of grandchildren. Leaving only the garage standing, we started from square one with the rest of the 3800 sq ft house, beginning with a fabulous main floor entertainment space extending from the well-appointed kitchen to the back patio, showcasing both a gorgeous wine cellar and fireplace. The soundproofed bedrooms offer solitude, and a new game room above the garage is a cozy play space for kids and adults alike. We call it The Aerie because eagles love it here. (They even kept a vigil in the backyard trees throughout construction.)
