Interior Design: Our Homeowners

Midcentury modern homes rarely stay that way. Additions, renovations and design updates made over decades can collectively catapult the overall aesthetic of these homes through time, from the year each was built to someplace in the 21st century. Our clients brought to the table midcentury design savvy for days - one works at a West Michigan company renowned for mcm furniture, the other is a talented craftsman with ample experience restoring historical homes. Through smart and targeted updates - some of which we made, some of which they capably performed themselves - we collaborated to improve the home’s functionality in today’s world while preserving the home’s authentic midcentury character. New Urban supervised the addition of new windows along the entire rear expanse of the home to create sweeping views of the lush backyard and river below. We also converted the carport into a garage, put on a new roof, and added a screened porch among other gentle updates.
