A family doesn’t always have to go far to get away - case in point, this cozy cottage on Burgess Lake in Greenville. Our Grand Rapids-based clients wanted a retreat that could be reached within a short drive and yet still exude more of a northern, classic ‘cottage’ feel versus a primary residence. Several thoughtful details helped accomplish the goal. An open main floor plan, combined with a bunk room and a loft containing a children’s play area, are designed to enhance togetherness and a sense of shared space. Screened porches on the main and second floors offer lovely views of the lake. A fieldstone chimney adds charm.
